| We landed in Adelaide after a good flight with Cathay Pacific, we stopped off in Hong Kong for 6 hours. I would reccommend using the lounge as we did for 5 hours, this included good chinese food, beverages and a relaxing shower then you get to sit on comfy sofa's and come and go as you please.
When we reached Adelaide we were greeted by a lovely couple from the meet and greet service that the Australian gov booked for us, I would really recommend this aswell, we didn't feel like small fish out of water.
Jarrett my hubby was taken by Taxi and the meet and greet couple took me allthrough the nice parts of Adelaide to our accommodation.
When jarrett and i met up he had a different feel for the place than I did.
My opinion on Adelaide is good and I hope that I don't offend anyone out there as that's not my objective.
Adelaide is to a little bit like home in Bristol, the city is a bit grubby and reminds me of Old Market in Bristol, the river and grasslands around the city anre like the Downs in Bristol but nicer. Funny enough I didnt feel like i'd left England.
The people here are more than friendly, and they are definatly so happy to talk to and help you if they can.
The beaches here are absolutly stunning and the white sand coast line goes on for miles and miles, with lovely turquoise waters, i have been in the sea which is very warm looking over my shoulder all the time for sharks lol.
My family have just enjoyed the outside much more, Zac has taken up fishing and crabbing as well as skateboarding and boogie boarding. My two little girls are just enjoying playing with their buckets and spades and swimming in the large warm pools of water which are left behind when the tide goes out, aswell as playing in the covered parks that are set all along Semaphore beach.
There are lots of lovely suburbs to live like: Flagstaff Hill, Aberfoyle park, Blackwood, Golden Grove, Semaphore, West lakes and Grange.
We think we will rent in Grange for a year as its by the beach and has lots of shops, Jarrett can then work in a Hairsalon near by and then meet us on the jetty for fish and chips after work.
Im going to have to watch my weight here, there are sooo many fast food places a bit Americanised, they have drive through Liquor Land and drive through Coffee stops ect
The weather here is hot and its hard to get my head around Christmas but I have and went out to buy my first immitation christmas tree.
The cost of living here is quite cheap upto England but I know the locals feel its high and when Im talking dollars on our salary i will probably feel the same.
There are definatly lots to do, We took a jouney upto a place call Gummaracha,(probably spelt wrong sorry) They have the worlds largest rocking horse and also a wonderful wildlife reserve that is free to enter you can buy food at the desk to feed kangaroos emu's and lots of other birds that are also roaming around free.
Adelaide Zoo was just fab, lovely to see different animals like Orangutang's ect.
As yet I have not seen any spiders like Red Backs or Huntsman and I think the best thing about living in Adelaide is the fact it has no Crocodiles.
There are a lot of Sex shops about like Lisa and Darren said but they are on places you would drive past not walk past and I havent been offended by them.
In all I am at the moment enjoying the sunshine and beach and although i am missing my family and i am a little lonely sometimes I don't feel im going back to England just yet.
Catch up with you soon.
Shaz I hope everything is well with you.
